Thinker’s Delight

Curator’s Notes:

In The Thinker (1880), Rodin captures thought in its most delicious tension — a mind bent, elbows braced, ideas simmering just beneath the surface. With furrowed brow and timeless poise, he reminds us that deep contemplation is universal… and that thinking hard can work up an appetite.

Ingredients

  • Vanilla Cake
  • Honey yuzu tea (Yuja tea)
  • Roasted, chopped hazelnuts
  • Milk chocolate coating

Flavour Harmony

  • Milk chocolate coating: the deep, smooth patina of the bronze sculpture is visually reminiscent of a glossy milk chocolate flavoured coating.

  • Honey yuzu tea (Yuja tea): Among many things Yuja tea is known for it’s soothing, calming quality with a bright, citrussy tang – perfect for a moment of reflection or a flash of inspiration. It captures that instant of clarity or revelation, the “aha!” moment inside deep thinking.

  • Roasted hazelnuts & vanilla cake: both warm and rich flavours, perfect for some contemplation. The hazelnuts add some depth, crunch and the toasted quality of long pondering.

Interpretation: The Thinker isn’t just pondering — he’s on the brink of something brilliant, that charged quiet between question and answer where ideas warm, stretch, and click into place. Thinker’s Delight lives in that same electric pause.

The sip-in-your-mind spark of Yuja tea — soothing at first, then suddenly bright — mirrors the moment a thought sharpens into an aha! A comforting calm, followed by a citrus jolt of clarity. Beneath that, hazelnuts and vanilla bring the grounding richness of slow contemplation, the kind that takes its time, crunches gently, and rewards patience.

It’s thoughtful, but not solemn; insightful, but not in a hurry. A reminder that brilliance doesn’t only strike in silence — sometimes it taps you on the shoulder with a zest of citrus and a nutty little grin.
